Rare Captive Whale Shark Goes On Display

Its truly a sight to behold. Visitors to a Japanese aquarium are getting an underwater view of the worlds biggest fish species, the whale shark.

A rare captive whale shark went on display at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium on Friday.

Spectators flocked to the exhibit to admire the whale shark, behind the biggest acrylic window in the world, which provides people with a breathtaking view of the tank in its entirety.

The whale shark joins numerous other fish, sharks, and rays of many sizes and shapes as they swim and glide about in the giant tank.

The Okinaway Churaumi Aquarium has undertaken a mission once thought to be impossible because of their enormous size successfully housing several whale sharks in one tank in order to attempt to breed whale sharks in captivity.
